Keeping the Arts Alive...
The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students in public PTA sponsored schools.
PTA believes that all children deserve a quality arts education, and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participation in the annual Reflections Art Program.
The Reflections Art Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme chosen annually.
The new theme is announced in the fall and students create works based on the theme in one of six categories
The Reflections art program categories are:
- Literature
- Photography
- Dance Choreography
- Film/Video production
- Visual Arts
- Musical Composition
Once all the entries have been collected, the work is displayed and judged by professionals in each field (Literature, Photography, visual Arts, Music, Film and Dance.)
Participation in the Reflections Art Program is organized by school grade.
Student works are critiqued against other works in the same grade division.
Works are judged and awards given at the local, state, and national levels.
All participants receive recognition and have their work showcased in local exhibits.
At Lang Ranch Elementary, Reflections artwork is submitted in early October and then displayed throughout the school.
A special "Gallery Night" is held in early November where students and their families can come and enjoy the entire collection and receive critical acclaim!
Following the Gallery Night, the entries selected by our panel of judges move on to the District level where they are judged again and may move on to the State and National levels.
Reflections is an amazing arts program that is entirely volunteer driven.
Thanks to the diligent efforts of our PTA volunteers the program has mushroomed into a thriving Lang Ranch tradition.
